This is a photobash experiment I did using a series of photos I took over the years. My concept for this piece was a rapidly enlarging city that was over growing in a few different ways. One of which is these slums that would pop up underneath bridges and whatnot around old railway lines. As airborne rapid freight transit was popularized the old train track routes fell into disuse, but rather than paving it over, the city just designated these lane ways as high speed transport zones. Hence, lower-income citizens began repurposing abandoned cargo cars and whatnot to use as residences and commercial venues, along with erecting their own improvised structures along these routes. However they are still very noisy, and dirty places to live as the din of flying cargo and constant floating advertisements and banners is unending.
I took advantage of the luminance brushes and perspective blur functionality within Procreate on the iPad to create a hazy, neon soaked and fast paced scene for establishing the mood of this constantly expanding, rapidly degrading mega city.
All photos were taken by me of various buildings in Toronto, New York, & near Windsor Ontario!
The piece took approximately 8 1/2 hours to complete.
Thank you so much for your time!
